Dr Sears nibble tray

Now I don't think I've mentioned this in my other blog posts yet, but my oldest, Nic, was born a micropreemie. He was born at 28 weeks weighing 3lbs 4oz. He has done really well and exceeded all expectations, but we have had a lot of trouble putting weight on him. Nic is still on the small side. I have looked everywhere for help to get him caught up. During my research I found the Dr Sears nibble tray made by Zak! What a helper! The tray is in the fun shape of a pineapple. It has six compartments to put food in and three extra stay cold in the top. I can fill this super cute tray up with all kinds of healthy foods in the morning and it's ready to go for snacking. It gives me piece of mind knowing if he eats most of the tray and his three regular meals we are on track. It's works so well with Nic that I recently bought one for Matt. The boys love the freedom of choice and since it's reserved for healthy foods only I know what they are eating is good for them.

Here's a few things the boys enjoy in their nibble tray:
olives, pasta wheels, tofu, cucumbers, carrots (cooked for Matts), avocado  strawberries, blueberries, raspberries  Cheerios, cheese, broccoli, trail mix

Here's a few ideas for the stay cool side for dipping:
pureed pumpkin, hummus, cream cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, and Nutella

These are my suggestions feel free to add your own. And if you are interested here's the link to buy: Dr-Sears-Nibble

I think it's a hit!

yep my three year old said that

Oh Nic, my first born, my life! I love my three year old Nicolas; he is a very good and kind person.
But...he has a mouth on him!!! lol As a baby he was so serious. He would study everything, and he never  tried something until he knew he had mastered it. Then he turned two and started talking.
Here are a few of the things that have come out of his mouth:

-"mommy I wasn't talking to you I was talking to those humans over there." Humans being a passerby at the beach.

- to a little girl at a play group "if you don't share that with me I'm going to get mad."

- "Matty and myself are really feeling tvish today."

- me, "are you trying to goat me into an argument?"  Nic, "yes mommy it's a game called sass mouth."

-the paw broke off an old ceramic dog, "oh it's a dire wolf paw. I'd better go categorize it."

-One night as I as lay Nic down to sleep he told me that he didn't want to have any more dreams. I asked him why. He said, "I had a scary dream." After I explained about nightmares and dreams and how they are not real and can't hurt him I asked him what the dream was about. Nic replied with one wild story. "we was in Alaska and there was a grizzly bear and he he pooped in the snow. And I can't tell you the rest it's too scary." Poor kid!

Eco-friendly Easter

Happy Easter everyone! This year we're keeping it crunchy. The Easter Bunny has been hard at work trying to find healthy and fun basket fillings. Traditionally my family has always done fairly small baskets; for us the holiday is a simple one. The first thing I ordered was a little something for the bath from LUSH. And who doesn't love LUSH!  LUSH is an eco-friendly company that never tests on animals. Many of their products are fair trade and sustainable. I found this adorable bath bomb in the shape of a robot, and a plus for me these cutie bots have a calming effect to help my kidos sleep better.

As a super bonus I'm going to use the  packaging from my LUSH order to fill the bottom of the basket. When Easter is over this awesome little piece of potato starch will become food for my house plants.

The next thing that will adore the baskets this year is a set of wonderful paints by glob colors. I got really lucky with a nu and nugs adventures contest and won 50% off at glob colors! Glob has paints made entirely out of fruits, vegetables and herbs. The paints are non-toxic and have no artificial dyes. I can't wait to open them up and get to painting. They are supposed to smell incredible.

My boys love puzzles! Nic will work on a 50 piece puzzle for an hour. So keeping in my better for the earth theme I went straight to Melissa and Doug. Melissa and Doug make handcrafted wooden toys. You can find the online, at Toys R Us and Target. The hubby got our puzzles at Toys R Us.

Now here is my big find... books made out of 98% recycled paper. How amazing is that? The book series is called Green Start and it's by Innovation Kid. Nic gets In the Rain forest and it includes a puzzle. I picked Matt up a match up called Mamas and Babies.

What Easter Basket wouldn't be complete without a little something sweet, so I got Happy Tot  fruit and veggie pouches. They are delicious and nutritious! Annie's Organic Fruit Snack will also go in the baskets this year. I love Annie's! Annie's is quality food for kids. The bonus is they are fruit snacks shaped like....Bunnies! lol

I am very excited this year. It feels really good to know that my kids will have a great Easter and we are doing are part to be able to enjoy a less polluted Easter today and in the future.

Happy Easter!

Our adventure begins at the farmers market

Hello and welcome to my blog page. I'm Bumble Betty. I figured a good place to start both as on my blogging adventure and eating healthy adventure is at the local farmers' market. Yummy!

So Thursday I packed up both boys, wrapped up the Moby and we headed out the door. I don't know about anyone else but I've always found the farmers' market to be a bit intimidating, but I am determined to start feeding this family better food. Let me tell you I had a blast! I talked with all the farmers about where they are located and what they use for pesticides (or don't use). One farmer even had fresh free range eggs.
Here's my haul

I ended up only spending $20. That night we had a delicious garden salad. The boys have been enjoying the strawberries as an afternoon snack.  An added bonus I picked up a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I can't wait to go back next week.
